On Broken Pieces

“And the rest should follow, some on planks, and some on other things from the ship. So they all escaped safely to the land.”
Acts 27:44

Reflection

Nobody arrived on the ship. They arrived on its wreckage, holding whatever floated, and the text calls that safe. Survival is allowed to look undignified, and coming through in pieces still counts as coming through.

Pray

God, I wanted to come through this intact and I am coming through it in pieces. Let me count that as rescue, and keep me from despising the way I got here.

Amen.

Declare

Arriving on wreckage is still arriving.
