I Believe God

“Therefore, sirs, cheer up! For I believe God, that it will be just as it has been spoken to me.”
Acts 27:22–25

Reflection

Paul was a prisoner on that ship with no authority over anyone, and he became the calmest person in the hold. In a crisis, one person's steadiness is a resource everybody else draws on.

Pray

Lord, make me the steady one in this room. Not falsely cheerful and not pretending — just steady enough that someone frightened can stand near me.

Amen.

My steadiness is something other people can borrow.
