Five Smooth Stones

“He took his staff in his hand, and chose for himself five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag which he had.”
1 Samuel 17:40

Reflection

David refused armor that did not fit and took what he had already proven in ordinary work. Courage is rarely equipped with new weapons; it is equipped with tested ones.

Pray

God, keep me from waiting for equipment I do not have. Show me what You have already trained me to do, and give me the humility to use small, proven things.

Amen.

Declare

I will use what I have actually practiced, not what looks impressive.
