Courage story · The River · Joshua 3–4
Day 04
Twelve Stones
“When your children ask in the future, saying, ‘What do you mean by these stones?’ then you shall tell them, ‘Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the LORD’s covenant.”
Joshua 4:6–7
Reflection
They carried stones out of the riverbed and stacked them, because they knew they would forget. Memory is not automatic; fear overwrites it fast, and a deliverance you cannot recall cannot steady you next time.
Pray
God, I have forgotten things You have already done. Help me mark this one so that the next frightened version of me has something solid to look at.
Amen.
Declare
I will build something I can point at later.
Today’s practice
Write down this crossing in plain detail — the date, what you feared, what happened. Put it where you will find it again.
