No Smell of Smoke

“The fire had no power on their bodies. The hair of their head wasn’t singed. Their pants weren’t changed, the smell of fire wasn’t even on them.”
Daniel 3:27

Reflection

The detail the story lingers on is not the flames but the aftermath: no burns, no singeing, not even the smell. What you go through does not have to become what you carry.

Pray

God, I do not want to come out of this carrying its smoke — bitter, brittle, suspicious of everyone. Do the deeper work: bring me out of this without it clinging to me.

Amen.

Declare

What I walk through does not have to become what I carry.
